TURKEY FOOD TOURS

Frequently Asked Questions

Getting ready to join one of our delicious journeys? Here you’ll find answers to the questions our guests ask most often before their tour

You can easily complete your booking through our Tour Request Form, and a secure payment link will be sent to you by our team.
As our small-group tours often sell out quickly, we recommend making your reservation as early as possible to secure your spot.

Day tours booked through our website can be canceled up to 24 hours before the tour with a full refund and no penalty.
For cancellations, please contact us at hello@turkeyfoodtours.com.

It’s very rare, but in some cases, we may need to cancel a tour.

  • Weather conditions: Our tours run rain or shine. In case of bad weather, most of the tastings take place indoors. Only in situations officially deemed unsafe weather conditions by local authorities will we cancel a tour.
  • Minimum group size: A minimum of 2 participants is required for a tour to operate. If fewer than two guests have booked, we’ll contact you to reschedule for another time or neighborhood. If no alternative works for you, you’ll receive a full refund or a gift card valid indefinitely. (This policy does not apply to private tours.)

That depends on your child! If you think they’ll enjoy tasting and exploring, bring them along — our tours are fun for food and history lovers of all ages.
However, we’ve found that children under 12 may have difficulty enjoying a longer group activity, which can affect the experience for other guests.

Your ticket includes all food tastings, a knowledgeable and friendly guide, and non-alcoholic beverages.
Museum or site entrance fees and gratuities are not included.
If you had a great time, your guide will be grateful for any tips — it’s a wonderful way to show your appreciation.

To request a private tour, please fill out the form on our Private Tours page.
Private tours are available for groups, and one of our representatives will contact you within 2 business days to confirm availability.
The recommended maximum group size is 15 guests, and for larger groups, additional guides will be arranged to ensure the best experience.

We provide enough tastings that most guests don’t need lunch or dinner afterward!
Our goal is not only to satisfy your appetite but also to introduce you to a range of authentic flavors and venues.

Yes! We serve water and select local beverages during the tour.
Water is provided at multiple stops, as it’s ideal for cleansing the palate and staying hydrated.
In most tours, there are also opportunities to purchase alcoholic or non-alcoholic drinks if you wish.

  • Vegetarian options are available on all tours.
  • You can request non-meat alternatives when booking.
  • Nut-free options are possible, but please note that cross-contamination may occur in local kitchens.
  • We may not be able to offer full vegan alternatives or accommodate all severe allergies, but if you can enjoy most tastings, you’re more than welcome to join us!

Our tours are designed to highlight each location’s signature dishes, so substitutions are sometimes limited.
Your health and enjoyment are important to us — please contact us before booking if you have specific dietary concerns.

Each tour involves approximately 1–1,5 miles of walking over 3 to 3.5 hours, with several sitting breaks in between. Some routes include stairs, so please inform us during booking if that could be an issue for you.
For private tours, walking distances can be adjusted according to the group’s preferences and comfort level.

Some of our tours are partially accessible.
Since we often explore historic areas with narrow sidewalks, cobblestone streets, and stairs, accessibility may vary by route.
We’ll do our best to recommend the most suitable tour for your needs

Yes! Your guide will let you know when the next restroom stop is coming up.

Tours within the same timeslot follow the same route; however, we occasionally refresh or adjust stops to introduce new flavors and experiences.

Please dress comfortably and seasonally.
Layered clothing is always a good idea — our venues are heated in winter and air-conditioned in summer.

Our walking and tasting tours are led by experienced and licensed guides.
You’ll explore the history and culture of each city while enjoying authentic dishes prepared by local eateries, family-run businesses, and traditional restaurants.

What sets us apart is that we serve more food than most food tours and include sit-down tastings for a relaxed, enjoyable pace.

As a third-generation family in tourism, we’ve hosted thousands of happy guests — many of whom describe their experience with us as a highlight of their trip to Turkey.

The ideal group size is 12 guests, which allows for a more personal and enjoyable experience.
We don’t have an official waiting list, but when a tour date sells out, we sometimes add additional departures.
For group bookings, please email us at hello@turkeyfoodtours.com with your preferred date.

Turkey Food Tours maintains a smoke-free policy to ensure a pleasant experience for all guests.
If you wish to smoke, please step away from the group.
Thank you for your understanding!
